Project overview - Sofiya Pohurskyy
AI-based sustainability governance

Research questions
1. How can AI be utilized by companies to enhance the efficiency and transparency of internal processes in meeting sustainability and supply chain-related regulatory requirements?
2. In what ways can AI be strategically integrated into corporate governance frameworks to improve sustainability performance and align business practices with environmental and social goals within sustainable supply networks?
3. How can AI contribute to the promotion and monitoring of sustainability standards across external supply chain networks, particularly in identifying and mitigating environmental and social risks and to support circular business models?
Why does this research matter?
Sofiya's research explores how AI can act as a catalyst for more effective sustainability governance within global supply chains. She looks at it from multiple angles—technologically, organizationally, and ethically. How can AI be meaningfully embedded into corporate sustainability strategies? How can it enable more transparent decision-making across complex networks? And how can we ensure that it supports—not replaces—human responsibility?
Sofiya combines empirical work with conceptual analysis, aiming to understand both what’s already happening in practice and what should be happening. Ultimately, she hopes this research helps to shape the way we design digital infrastructures: not just for efficiency, but for fairness, resilience, and ecological responsibility.
