Planning a summer school for 2027

Discussions began on a summer school to be hosted at Leuphana University in 2027. We'll continue planning this in the coming weeks and will invite interested Master Students for a course with consortium members soon.

A conference on regulation and geopolitical fragmentation

Frauke Steglich and Jann Lay presented a concept for a conference to be hosted at the GIGA Institute on 16 and 17 March 2027, under the tentative title "Sustainability Regulation meets Geopolitical Fragmentation: Challenges for Global Supply Chains." The conference is organised around three thematic areas: 1) the reconfiguration of global trade and supply chains in the Global South, 2) corporate strategies in a changing trade and regulatory environment, 3) the governance of global supply chains. We will provide more information on this in due course.

Mapping our collective research

The meeting closed with a mapping exercise that had been prepared in advance. Research information shared by consortium members was mapped onto an analytical figure developed as part of earlier research on mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence. The resulting overview made visible where individual projects converge, where they diverge, and where questions raised by one strand of research are already being answered by another. This exercise will continue in the coming months as the network works to identify shared patterns and potential synergies across projects.

We were thrilled to discuss this in the afternoon with our guests Prof. Nora Lohmeyer, Prof. Miriam Wilhelm (a member of our advisory board), Dr. Maha Yomn Sbaa and Shady Giada Anayati. Thank you for joining us!
